From Wikipedia: The DP-27 is a light machine gun developed for the Soviet Red Army in the 1920s under the leadership of Vasily Degtyarev (1880–1949), the first prototype being the DP-26.
Between 27 and 29 September 1926, two test guns were manufactured and fired 5,000 rounds each, during which shortcomings were discovered in the extractor and firing pin mechanisms.
After improvements to the design, two more guns were manufactured and tested in December 1926, firing 40,000 rounds under adverse conditions, resulting in a downtime rate of only 0,6%. However, changes to the bolt frame and chamber locking mechanism were still required.
After this modernization, the improved gun, now called DP-27, was tested by the Red Army at the Kovrov plant on January 17–21, 1927, passed all tests and was cleared for production.
A full year of performance testing followed, after which the main change requested was the addition of a large flame arrester, which is now considered one of the design’s signature features.
I am always happy to accept individual orders of any complexity. The main thing is that they are interesting to work with. You can always ask me about it
